Ask almost anyone and they'll tell you, "Americans are the freest people in the world". That tends to put an end to any further discussions on the subject. But being taller, younger, older, colder does not necessarily translate to being tall, young, old or cold any more than being the "freest" mean being "free". It is all relative. So, when in our history did we become satisfied with just being free, relatively speaking? And just how are we going to teach those who come after us the difference between free, freer and freest?

On The Commons with us this week is Nancy Levant. Nancy is a prolific writer on the American culture and Constitutional governance. She is the author of several books and numerous articles. Many of them can be read on The American Chronicles, http://www.americanchronicle.com/. Please join us On The Commons. We'll find out what is happening in our society and talk about where this may all be leading us. Download Nancy Levant
