Ever wonder why a bad idea is cloned, copied and used over and over again?  And how do you stop a bad idea from multiplying like a rabbit?  Well, every year or two our elected officials get together and introduce ideas they hope will become law.  And every time the legislature gathers for its annual or biennial ritual, homeowners hope that some of the laws that are introduced will be homeowner friendly and  protect their property rights.  And at the same time, the HOA industry gathers with their gifts and long wish lists seeking to expand the powers of associations and  managers. 
And as this annual ritual blows across the country like a mad March wind, what should individual owners look for?  How can they protect their property and their rights?

Delinquent HOA dues: 
Homeowners are negatively impacted when a CIC managment company turns a file over to a collection company. For a total of $200 in past due fees, collection companies are charging in excess of $2000 in collection charges. 
Since I am in the foreclosure business, I am always receiving these payoffs, and have dozens of examples. 
In one instance, they billed $250 for mgmt transfer fee. When we called mgmt co, their fee was $100. When we confronted collection company, they sent updated payoff with 2 columns, one column with $100 transfer fee, and second column with $250 transfer fee. 
We are afraid to complain, because they become antagonistic. 
Ombudsman tells us to pay and then go to court. 
I have lots of written proof, and this year, I will contact FBI and AGs office.
