The right to own property is the cornerstone of a free society and, as Americans, we take great pride in the fact that we are a society of owners. "The American Dream" is all about owning a home and be it big or small, city loft or country ranch, most people aspire to become homeowners. And until recently owning a home for most people was the end of the journey to Utopia. After all, they had achieved the American Dream, it was time to enjoy the fruits of their labors. But, unbeknownst to them, that "F" word lurks beneath all the joy and pride they are experiencing. Foreclosures have become alarmingly prevalent in this country. With enabling legislation and alleged contractual "agreements", losing the "American Dream" is becoming far too easy.

On The Commons this week is Stewart Rosenblum. Stewart is an attorney in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, where foreclosures are at an alarming high. While most of the foreclosures do not appear to be initiated by a homeowners association, nonetheless, HOAs still gain from these tragedies. Please tune in to On The Commons. We'll find out about the foreclosures, who is foreclosing, why and how HOAs benefit from them. We'll also learn about some interesting litigation Stewart was involved in. It will have you reading the language in your CC&Rs very carefully. You really won't want to miss this one.  Download Stewart Rosenblum
